Haircuts

Alyssa and I got haircuts today. It was quite an event. Alyssa hates getting her hair cut. She wants her hair to be as long as possible, but every once in a while, it just needs a little trim. I've been preparing her for a few weeks and today was the day. She was first, and she threw a total temper tantrum, on the floor, and would not sit in the chair. She just continued to throw herself on the floor whenever I tried to pick her up to put her in the chair. Fun times...the place was packed and everyone was looking. So, I went first. I pointed to the picture in the magazine of the haircut I wanted, and Alyssa started throwing another fit. She did not want me to cut my hair short. She was screaming. She was screaming "Dad is not going to like this! He is going to Hate this! Don't cut your hair short!!!" All the ladies were laughing. I was so mad. It continued for about 5 minutes and finally she stopped. Then it was her turn and the fit continued but she did allow the lady to trim her hair. My whole family hates my haircut. I like it. I like long hair, but it's been long for a long time and I needed a change. I thought Summer was the perfect time for the change...(p.s. Alyssa took this picture)

Alyssa's Jr. K Graduation

Today Alyssa graduated from Jr. Kindergarten. This is her walking in...they each walked in one by one... (note the hand in the mouth...this is what she does now when she's in front of people, it's her attempt to try not to smile). During the Mother's Day program which was very small, just her class, in her classroom, just the moms watching, the kids just got up and sang us a few songs...her hand or arm was in her mouth the entire time, so needless to say, I was a little nervous for this graduation program, it was much bigger, more people watching (moms & dads and even grandparents) and she had to say stuff ALL by herself in to the microphone. I said a prayer before the program started that she would actually say her line. :-)
This is the morning AND afternoon class
She DID IT!!!! She said it perfectly. They were doing an animal zoo skit and she was Suzie Seal. Her line was to say, "I'm right here and willing but do you suppose, I must practice walking with a ball on my nose?" I didn't get a picture of that because Trevor would not give me my camera. This is her the 2nd time around where everyone said what they wanted to be when they grew up. She said, "I want to be an artist." (note the picture is very fuzzy and dark, something to do with Trevor playing with the camera, yeah not the best toy for him, but I was desperate to keep him entertained).
Way to go Alyssa!!! I was so proud!!

Yay Kylie slept!!!

We've had a rough couple of weeks with this little girl. She's been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old, but for the last 2 weeks she's been waking up in the middle of the night. At first we thought maybe she wasn't feeling well, or maybe she's finally getting some teeth, or something was bugging her so we went ahead and gave her a bottle for a few nights so that we could all just go back to sleep. Well when a few nights turned into 2 weeks, we figured we had a habit and maybe nothing was wrong after all. So on Tuesday night I had had enough and decided to put my foot down. We were up for a total of about 3 hours but I didn't cave and she didn't have a bottle. I was dreading another night of this but last night, she slept through the night!!! She slept until 7:15 this morning! I'm thinking that was way too easy and it must have been a fluke so we'll see how tonight goes! So she has been quite a little punk the last few weeks at night, but who could be mad at this face?

Alyssa and Trevor

I have to do a tribute to my darling kids Alyssa and Trevor because I know I don't include as many pictures of them as Kylie. I tried and tried to get Alyssa to look at the camera so I could take a picture of her and I swear my older two are worse than the baby! They look for like, a split second and then turn away. So this is what I got out of quite a lengthy photoshoot...
The look on Alyssa's face is so Alyssa.

Kylie is looking so BIG!

Isn't she? She is just about 11 months. She can cruise now on her hands and knees. I think it will be a while before she walks though. She pulls herself up on to her knees but that's about it. She also enjoys walking around holding on to our fingers.

Also, on a side note that has nothing to do with Kylie, it is finally warm here!!!! We are loving it. Hopefully it sticks around for a while!

I'm going to "bind" my blog

I'm sure you've all heard that you can make your blog into a book. Well, I've decided to do that...eventually...so I'm going to try to start blogging more often, so bare with me, some of the things I blog about, you may care less about. :-) But it's more for our memories.

Last week, Trevor said something really cute. First a little background: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while Alyssa is at preschool, Trevor takes a nap. So when it's time to go pick her up, I have to wake him up and strap his sleepy body in the car seat. Well, we got to the school and I got Kylie out so I was of course, carrying her, and I went around to open the door for Trevor. (normally he does all of this himself but when he's this tired, he needs a little help). So I said, "come on, Trev, you need to get out of the car" and he replied, "carry me" and I said, "no i can't carry you buddy I'm carrying Kylie" and in a really sleepy, quiet, almost pleading voice, he said, "But you're Supermom" It was really cute because that is not a phrase or word we use around here, ever, so I'm not sure where he heard it, but it melted my heart a bit and put a smile on my face. (but no, I did not carry him, I am not that strong)

Our Yard

They finished putting in our front and backyard landscaping yesterday. Here is a pic of the front...(not much to look at, but it's better than dirt)
This is taken from one side of the yard...we were kind of disappointed with how much rock they used vs. grass, seriously, it's about half and half, but it's to keep water from the foundation. We eventually will put some plants in and a few trees. But we're just glad not to be looking at dirt anymore!

California--Fairytale Town

On the way home from the airport after arriving in Sacramento, we stopped at the kids' favorite place, Fairytale town...here are some pics...

Mexico

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted, sorry HEATHER! :-) j/k. I've been meaning to, so thanks for the push.
We had a fun trip to California to visit family and to drop off the kids at Grandma and Grandpa Campbell's! They were so nice to watch our 3 kids for us so that we could go to Cancun (actually Playa del Carmen) with my whole family for 6 days. (4 days in Mexico, 2 days were spent traveling, but that was still part of the vacation!). We had so much fun just relaxing. I didn't take any pictures while I was there, I was too busy relaxing but here are some that other members of my family took...maybe there will be more to come when I get more from them.
