Ugh!

I am soo annoyed. Kylie was pretty crabby tonight so I put her to bed a bit early, around 7:30. She fussed for only a few minutes and then it was quiet. Well around 7:50 I came downstairs to find that the kids had taken off the cushions to the new couch and were jumping on the bare couch, which is worse than if there were cushions on it! They have done this before and have been told at least 2 or 3 times that this is a big no-no and have been sent to time-out for it also. So, I declared bedtime, a few minutes early as punishment for jumping on the couch. So OF COURSE Alyssa throws a huge fit and as I'm walking them upstairs I'm thinking, CRAP, this is going to "disturb" Kylie. And sure enough, moments later, she starts crying, and now 15 minutes later, she is still crying.

I am so annoyed because this happens at least once a week, either at bedtime or nap time. (nap times are better now that the kids are at school during her nap). But it drives me nuts. Because I don't want to not punish them and let them get away with things to avoid a fit, to therefore avoid the Kylie issue, but it drives me nuts that it wakes Kylie up, or at least disturbs her almost asleep state, or laying there peacefully state. Ugh!!

Kid Update

Alyssa is doing great in Kindergarten. There have been no complaints about her teacher, in fact one day last week she said, "My teacher was so silly today!" She's not always super enthusiastic about going like she was last year about pre-K, but hey, it's going much better than I thought. She complains that it's not as much fun as pre-K, that they do a lot of work, and she never gets to bring anything home. I think that will change soon though when she starts getting homework every night, as her teacher warned us parents. She has a new little friend she tells us about...her name is Elizabeth and she has red hair. I'm having a little bit harder time adjusting to her being in Kindergarten than I thought. It's just so...real. I don't sign her in and out anymore, there's no snack, it's required that she goes, and she had a fire drill today and everything! I feel like she's a 6th grader or something. I don't know...it's weird.

Kylie is walking ALL over the place now. She hardly ever crawls anymore, it's so stinkin' cute to see her tiny little body walking everywhere. She is so silly, she had a fascination with licking the oven a few days ago...

...and I just can't figure out what to do with her shaggy hair. It's driving me nuts! It's all in her face all the time and she always looks all ratty...
... but if I put it in a Pebbles ponytail or in a clip, she just rips it right out, as she's about to do here...and then her hair looks even better, from being in a ponytail. She loves to suck on chapstick and Trevor's nerf gun darts like they're binkies.

Trevor is doing really well in his preschool too. I don't have a picture of him because this stupid blogger was being retarded and I couldn't get it on. But anyways, he likes it but everyday he complains because "he doesn't get to bring anything home." I don't know what they do in there, I guess they don't do projects or something...

Alyssa & Mini Alyssa

Alyssa had so much fun decorating her paper-girl to look like her. Her teacher is hanging all the little paper kids on the wall in the classroom.

1st Day of School!

Well today was the day! As we speak, Alyssa is in her Kindergarten class and Trevor in his preschool class! I've been waiting for this day all summer, yet it was not as exciting as I'd hoped it would be. I think I was more nervous for Alyssa than she was. To make a long story short, yesterday we met her teacher and it didn't go over very well. 30 seconds after walking in to the classroom Alyssa was getting repremanded for being shy and 30 seconds later we were told to leave and come back later. She would just not tolerate this "behavior" in her classroom. I stormed out of that classroom sure that I was switching teachers...I won't go into it...but she is still with this teacher for the time being. We will see how it goes. She did end up going back later in the day and did better. And she did well when we dropped her off. She looks semi-happy here in this picture, but she was VERY nervous. I'm anxious to go pick her up and see how the afternoon went. I'll keep you posted...

This little man is a whole different story. We met his teachers on Monday and they were all super nice. He didn't want to leave! When I told him it was time to go he said, "No I don't want to go...you just go." He woke up this morning and came running in to the family room where he yelled, "Preschool! Preschool!" He was impatient as we dropped Alyssa off first to get to his class, marched right in and was like, see ya!

I really LOVE Colorado weather

We got home last night at 1:00 a.m. after spending 9 days in California where we left over 100 degree weather to FREEZE our butts off here in Colorado!!! It was soo fun!! Today the high is 56 degrees!!!!! It's August 16th!!!! Growing up in CA all my life, this is CRAZY!!! The Colorado weather never seizes to amaze me. To me, this is SUCH A NICE BREAK from the heat (especially CA's heat)!!! You have to understand, that I do not like hot weather. The only reason I would ever want it to be hot is so my kids could go swimming every once in a while. My ideal summer would last 2 months long with temperatures fluctuating from the 70's - 80's with maybe 1 day a week in the 90's where a pool would be refreshing (for the kids, I'm not much of a swimmer, but they love it). I still can't get over that we will be busting out WINTER clothes today....in August. I'm giddy.
