Alyssa's First Dance Recital--Tiki Room

A few weeks ago was Alyssa's first dance recital. Her class of 5 kids did a little tap dance to Disney's "Tiki Room." It was soo cute. She was really nervous to get up on that big stage, but with a little bribing, she did it! I think her favorite part was definately the costume and make-up.
These pics were taken at the dress rehearsal.

Doesn't she look like she's having so much fun? :-)

After the show Grandma Karen took us out for ice-cream to celebrate. We are so proud of Alyssa for getting up on that big stage. We asked her if she wanted to do it again, and she said, "YES!" I'm so glad she ended up liking it. By the way, we in no way forced her to do this, she had the choice, and she wanted to. But as the day got closer, she did not want to do it, and that's where the bribing came in. :-)

Alyssa lost her 3rd tooth!

Bows bows bows

Kylie always brings me TONS of bows and wants me to put them ALL in her hair. She says to me, "Two...bows!" or " Four....bows!" Even though there are always 6-10. :-)

Sherwood

Today we went and saw my Grammy's horse, Sherwood. The kids have been so excited to go see him, and luckily we're having a mild weather week, so we took advantage of the nice weather and got out to the stables! Alyssa couldn't wait to ride him. She started horse-back riding lessons at summer school, and is really taking a liking to horses! Sherwood was so nice to let everyone ride him. :-) At school, Alyssa actually rides little ponies, so she was nervous about getting on Sherwood, who is much larger than she was expecting. So this picture is her "nervous" smile. Click on it and you will see what I mean. :-)

Kylie surprised me and wanted to ride Sherwood too!

(I walked right next to her and held on to her leg. She's just so little on that big horse!)

At first, Trevor didn't want to ride Sherwood because he thought he was too big, but after Kylie rode him, he decided it would be okay. Couldn't let his baby sister show him up!

I'm a little nervous myself around large animals, but the kids were all like, "Mom, aren't you going to ride him? C'mon Mom! Ride him!" So, I took him for a little spin. :-) Alyssa was a great photographer and snapped lots of pictures for me. :-)

Thanks again Grammy and Sherwood for a fun morning!

Kylie's 2nd Birthday

I've been slacking on my blog so this is a little late, but Kylie turned 2 last Sunday! Happy Birthday Kylie! :-) I think every birthday is going to be bittersweet for me. She gets more and more fun the older she gets, but I get a little sad when I think about never having a baby or 1 year old again. Not sad enough to have another one though. :-) She is just getting so big. She is talking up a storm which is so fun. My favorite thing she does is pause in between each word she says, like she's trying very hard to enunciate each sound of the word. "NO....nap" "Trevor...back...hit" (trevor hit my back). Anyways she is just so fun. Although she is HORRIBLE at going to bed and taking naps. For the past week, she has thrown a fit at every nap and bedtime, and the fits are Looooooong. She also started her b-day off with a nice little 2 year old fit. She woke up at like 6:30 and wanted a sucker and of course didn't get one, so she cried for about 15-20 minutes about it. We were like, "who told her she was two?" :-)
This pic was actually taken at the end of the day right before bed. These are the cute jammies her Aunt Tarah, Uncle Travis, and cousins Bryson and Lucas gave her. She was twirling. :-)
This was after we got home from Disneyland (the morning of her b-day was spent driving home).
She got a baby that swims...

And a "My first dollhouse" with some extra furniture. After each present she opened she would say, "More!"
Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Telford's house where she got a fun play sink for outside, and some cute new clothes. (she looks so tall and old in this pic!)

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Campbell's house for MORE presents and cupcakes. She got some new baby stuff: stroller, swing, highchair, crib, etc and a new baby! She LOVES loves loves babies.
It took Kylie a few minutes to figure out how to blow out her candles, but she did it!

Bee Stings

Aww, the difference between Alyssa and Kylie. I don't know if it's the age or personality...maybe a little of both.

Last week, Kylie was walking in some ground cover in a parking lot. I went over to get her out and saw a ton of bees buzzing around. So I said, "Come on Ky, you need to get out, there's bees in there." I got her out of there and as soon as I put her back on the ground she started saying, "Ouch! Foot! Ouch" and was walking on her heel. So I put her in her carseat and took her shoes off and brushed them off thinking she must have had something in her shoe that was bothering her. Alyssa and Trevor were like, "Did she get stung by a bee?" And I kept saying, "No, no" thinking she would be crying more/harder if she had. But the rest of the way home (about 3 minutes) she was complaining, not really crying, kinda whimpering, saying "Ouch! Bee! Ouch!" Mark was home when we got home and as soon as I got her out of her carseat she was running saying, "Daddy! Bee! Foot! Ouch!" Mark looked a little confused so I said, "She's saying she got stung by a bee, but she didn't." I grabbed her and sat on the couch and decided to look more carefully at her foot and low and behold, it was all swollen around a little red dot, where a bee had indeed, stung her.

Today, the kids were swimming at Grandma and Grandpa Campbell's house. Alyssa got out of the pool and walked over to me. All of a sudden she was like, "Ouch! I stepped on a rock!" Then she picked up her foot and saw a bee under it and SCREAMED HER HEAD OFF for a minute or so. Later, after she calmed down a bit, she was like, "I thought I had stepped on a rock, because Grandpa had told us to be careful of little rocks on the ground and that they hurt to step on, and I was like, yeah that did hurt, but it was really no big deal, and then I saw the bee and realized I had been stung by a bee! And then it hurt really bad!"

Kylie won the bravery award. :-)
